Ranch House & Home Plans: Modern Floor Plans

Master bedroom looks so different just by taking down the window treatments! We are planning on leaving the brick wall, and painting the interior windows black. For example, many older plans have 24″ wide doors into bathrooms, and toilets on 12-15″ centers with 21″ front clearance. The on center minimum is now 15″, with 18″ required in some locales and some require 30″ doors, even though IRC is silent on that. In the course of preparing sketches of the proposed color schemes for the front porch, I was delighted to run across some notes I had previously made about the bay window. Somehow, when doing the color sketches of the bay window, I had completely forgotten that the...

An original 2 story Levitt Home on Long Island, looking at real estate sites giving square footage is maxed out at just over a thousand sq. The curved window wall on the facade of this 902-square foot ranch house is clearly visible by looking at the floor plan. This modern detail creates an "outside-in" sense of space. Note also the size of the garage at 264 square feet, which is nearly a third the size of the house. There are a lot of vacation home plans in this retro house plan collection — probably because there is a larger market today for small vacation homes than for small full-time homes. I talked to the company about these retro house plans.

Glory, a Ranch Home for a Narrow Lot

While many of us tend to idealize the past , the past certainly had its share of imperfections. People have been altering and remodeling old houses ever since houses were first built. Today we'll go back in time 93 years and take a look at home...

The central hall of this small 901-square foot house makes this design similar to midcentury Cape Cod architecture. The roof overhang in front of the house makes the design more like an American bungalow. But it also looks a bit like the 1940s minimal traditional plans. Perhaps it is this mix of styles that makes this house design Grandette. I am looking for smaller house plans for when we retire (still in the future, but it’s a closer future than it used to be!) It’s so nice to see plans that A.

Your home as a more contemporary look and needs a little more rustic paint scheme…..just my opinion! But I love what you re doing with the inside and look forward to seeing it unfold. Can only imagine how excited you are to start construction. The ranch house originated in the United States and very popular during the 1940’s through the 1970’s. Ranch style house plans have seen renewed interest for their informal and casual, single story open floor plans and the ability to age in place.

Right now, I’m kinda in love with the one that has an octagon-shaped breakfast room! I also found the plan that looks like a house I drooled over in an ad in my FB mid-century ads group; I’ll have to link it. The 1,011 square feet of living space in this plan seems to be on two levels, with the basement creating the third level of this "three-level contemporary" home. It's a beautiful example of mid-century modern split-level design.

Modern construction is often so oversized that there is extra inches to play with, but these Midcentury plans were usually very efficient in using space. It's all white and kind of boring, but it looks better than it did before and the wood will be protected during the winter months. I still have some caulking to do, so don't look too carefully! Likely built in the 1870's, this surprisingly small Second Empire style house definitely thinks big as it displays details more typical of a house five times its size. Built of native stone in the Kansas vernacular, the house has languished for years, appearing to... The kitchen contains a breakfast nook, kitchen island and walk-in pantry. The master bath has a jack and jill styled bathroom also with a spacious walk in closet. The exterior has a covered front and rear porch, as well as a spacious three car garage. This is a 5 bedroom, 3.1 bathroom traditional craftsman home. It has the perfect open floor plan for anyone. The master bath has a jack and jill styled bathroom as well as a spacious walk in closet.

A small porch off the eating area, in addition to two larger porches, makes the Ranchero seem like an upscale camp. Integrated garages were very common to mid-century ranch houses. During the 1950s, real estate developers were eager to sell dreams of family and homeownership to GI soldiers returning from WWII. As you look through these plans, consider the ways ranch-style housing remains a popular and practical choice. With no stairs to a second floor, a ranch home—new or old—can be an ideal choice for homeowners who want to age in place.

In the basement the biggest changes were making the windows larger. This was at top of my list, good lighting is essential in a home! And the small windows weren’t to code, so they needed to be changed since we pulled a permit, to pass inspection they did need to be made larger. It cost us about $200 an hour to have the windows cut larger, and it took about 5 hours per window.

So we knew about what we would have to pay him then we kept an excel document on what we would bought tile, doors, etc for. I got an unexpected break yesterday when my chiropractor, after adjusting my back, forbade me from doing any ladder work right away. So, instead of working on the bay window, I explored the house a little bit more. The flash on my camera is working again (finally!)... A Craftsman bungalow -- built with a stucco exterior -- is in the process of being clad in vinyl siding.

In a presumed effort to facilitate the installation, all of the original stucco is being removed. Amazingly, the stucco had never been painted and featured a... Here's a look at what the process of nurturing the bay window looks like as it continues... The cornice of the bay had been wrapped in aluminum.

I think i would paint the ceiling leaving the beams wood tone. Although i love the ceilings, personally I need things to be brighter. The house is just beautiful, can’t wait to see everything completed. Upstairs-I would extend the bathroom wall for bedroom #4 so the door is at the end of the hall.

Ranch Style House Plans Standing The Test Of Time Some people don't want the grand designs that remind them of living in a mansion. They don't want the vaulted ceilings, the stone pillars, or the gabled roofs. When a person is looking for a custom home design that is more informal as the home will grow and age with your family for years, then the Ranch House plan is the one to select. The Ranch Style house plan incorporates simplicity into its function. Commonly the house has only a single story spread out over the lot as living spaces and bedrooms are located close together.
